EASTSIDE ARTS FESTIVAL | watercolour style mountainscape workshop acrylic on absorbent ground

Recreate a painting style traditionally achieved with watercolour, using acrylic paint on absorbent ground (an absorbent acrylic primer that resembles smooth watercolour paper). Create a beautiful, serene mountain landscape with a minimal palette of acrylic fluid paints and mixed media. Bring home a finished, ready-to-hang piece of art that you will proudly display on your wall!

LENGTH: 2 hours
LOCATION: 1000 Parker St. Studios #208. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your workshop time to allow time to check in. There will be somone to help you check-in outside of 1000 Parker.
AGES: Adults (ages 16 and up), Suitable for beginners and up
PRICE: $35 Equity Price, $45 Standard Price, $55 Supporter Price
ACCESSIBILITY: This studio is not wheelchair accessible. The studio is located up 1 flight of stairs and there is no elevator avalaible. The building can get hot in afternoon during summer. We will communicate verbally with members of the public using listening and spoken language in English. Seating in the studio is varied, some may have chairs or stools at short height, counter, or bar height seating. Weight capacities of seating is unknown. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs.
Sonya Iwasiuk is a contemporary mixed-media artist and educator based in Vancouver, British Columbia. An award-winning graphic designer, this spirited artist broke free to experiment with mixed-media painting and has never looked back. She has developed unique techniques, including large embossed acrylic skins, paintings on hand-rusted steel sheets, and engraved plaster. Continuously exploring new materials and methods, she presents her creative vision in a distinctive and contemporary manner. This adventurous spirit also informs her art lessons, ensuring her teaching remains unique and fresh. Her students, many of whom have been with her for years, thrive under her tutelage.
