Puttin’ On the Frit’s – Glass Fusing Workshop

Puttin’ On the Frit’s – Glass Fusing Workshop at Sunfire Studios invites you to learn about the properties of glass and create a design inspired by the flora and fauna of summertime! From Flowers and Bee’s to Roses and Trees, Attendees will create a pattern on a glass tile and melt it in the kiln. You can bring your own picture for inspiration or there will be templates to choose from. This playful, beginner-friendly introduction to glass art is all about loosening up, experimenting, and getting comfortable with glass techniques in a guided, supportive environment. Expect fun, learning, and creative exploration! Artworks must be picked up after the festival.

LOCATION: 111-1275 Venables Street, Vancouver, BC V5L 3J7. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your workshop time to allow time to check in.

AGES: Adults (ages 16 +). Suitable for beginners and up.

PRICE: $35 Equity Price, $45 Standard Price, $55 Supporter Price

ACCESSIBILITY: The studio is wheelchair accessible at ground level. There is a wheelchair accessible washroom at the studio. We will communicate verbally with members of the public using listening and spoken language in English. Seating in the studio is varied, some may have chairs or stools at short height, counter, or bar height seating. Weight capacities of seating is unknown. Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs.

About the Artist

Sunfire Studios Inc. is the home of creator Shelly Smee. Shelly’s primary medium is glass, both flame-work beads that are incorporated into Jewellery, and Glass Fusing which allows for a wide variety of expression from buttons to bowls, and other tabletop and home accessory items. Through hot and cold working processes, Shelly is able to present a spectrum of possibilities in glass, silver, copper and found objects.
