Cozy Covers: Felted Mason Jar Magic Workshop

Eastside Arts Festival

Sun, July 20 |

Learn how to create a felted cozy cover for a mason jar using wool+water+agitation=magic!

Get ready to get your hands wet in this introduction to wet felting. In this workshop, participants will learn how to create a felted cozy cover for a mason jar using wool. By layering fibres around a resist pattern, you’ll transform a flat layout into a seamless, 3D piece that will hug your jar perfectly. You can pick elements to embellish turning each one into a unique artifact. Once the fibres have been agitated into felt, the resist will be removed, and participants can shape and refine their cozy cover. This hands-on experience is all about connection—between fibres, creativity, and community. All fibre supplies, mason jar and felting tools will be provided.

    About the Artist

From wearable art to large-scale installations, Chantal Cardinal explores the endless possibilities of wool under FELT à la main with LOVE. A former fashion designer and film costumer, she discovered wet felting—a way to paint and sculpt with wool fibres—falling in love with this magical and renewable medium. Her work includes Come Together: The Power of Connections, a permanent public installation in Maple Ridge, and she was invited to lead an interactive felting experience at TED2024. Juried into international exhibitions, she also shares her passion through workshops in her studio, online, and at community events.
